Prepare the Batter

In a large mixing bowl, whisk together the all-purpose flour, cornstarch, baking powder, salt, and black pepper. Gradually add the beer while whisking until the mixture is smooth and well combined. Let it sit for about 30 minutes.

Heat the Oil

In a deep frying pan or pot, heat the vegetable oil over medium-high heat until it reaches 350°F (175°C).

Coat the Fish

Dip each cod fillet into the batter, ensuring it is fully coated.

Fry the Fish

Carefully place the battered fish in the hot oil, frying in batches to avoid overcrowding. Cook for about 4-5 minutes on each side or until golden brown and crispy. Remove and drain on paper towels.
