Ham and Cheese Sandwich

Fit Turkey Wrap

In a large mash tun, combine the roasted barley, pale malt, and flaked barley with 6 liters of water. Heat the mixture to 65-70°C (149-158°F) and hold for 60 minutes to convert the starches into sugars.

Mashing

After mashing, drain the wort into a kettle, and rinse the grains with hot water to extract as much sugar as possible. Aim to collect approximately 5 liters of wort.

Lautering

Bring the wort to a boil and add 1 oz of bittering hops. Boil for 60 minutes, adding the aroma hops in the last 10 minutes of the boil to preserve the hop aroma.

Boiling

After the boil, quickly cool the wort to about 20°C (68°F) using a wort chiller or an ice bath.

Cooling

Transfer the cooled wort to a fermentation vessel and pitch the yeast. Seal the vessel with an airlock and ferment at around 18-20°C (64-68°F) for 1-2 weeks, or until fermentation activity has ceased.

Fermentation

Once fermentation is complete, dissolve 0.5 cups of priming sugar in a small amount of water and add it to the beer before bottling. This will carbonate your beer. Bottle the beer and cap tightly.

Bottling

Allow the bottles to condition at room temperature for 1-2 weeks to develop carbonation before refrigerating.

Conditioning

Chill your Guinness Draught in the fridge for a few hours before serving. Pour into a pint glass, allowing it to settle for a moment before enjoying.
