Method
Prepare Aromatics
Make the Dip
Combine Base Ingredients
In a medium mixing bowl, add 1 cup mayonnaise, 1/2 cup sour cream, and 1/4 cup softened cream cheese. Whisk until smooth and homogenous, using a spatula to break up any cream cheese lumps.
Add Parmesan and Liquids
Stir in 1 cup grated Parmesan cheese. Add 2 tablespoons milk to loosen the mixture slightly so the dip is spreadable but still thick. If you prefer a thinner consistency, add up to 1 additional tablespoon milk.
Season
Add the grated/minced garlic, 1 tablespoon fresh lemon juice, 1/2 teaspoon Dijon mustard, 1/2 teaspoon Worcestershire sauce, 1/2 teaspoon freshly ground black pepper and 1/4 teaspoon salt. Mix thoroughly and taste. Adjust salt, pepper or lemon to balance the flavor.
Optional Heat
If using, stir in 1/4 teaspoon red pepper flakes or 1/2 teaspoon hot sauce for a spicy kick. Mix until evenly distributed.
Finish & Chill
Add Herbs
Fold in 2 tablespoons chopped parsley and 1 tablespoon sliced chives, reserving a small pinch of each for garnish.
Transfer the dip to a serving bowl. Sprinkle the top with the reserved parsley, chives and 2 tablespoons extra grated Parmesan.
Chill (recommended)
Cover the bowl and chill for at least 30 minutes to allow flavors to meld. The dip will thicken slightly as it chills. If serving immediately, allow 10 minutes for flavors to marry.
Serve
Serve chilled or at cool room temperature with raw vegetables, chips, toasted baguette slices or as a spread for sandwiches. Stir briefly before serving if the dip has separated slightly in the refrigerator.
