Bursting with vibrant hop aromas and a crisp finish, this IPA showcases a delightful blend of citrus and pine notes that will tantalize your taste buds. In a large brew kettle, heat 5 gallons of water to 165°F (74°C). Add the pale malt, crystal malt, and carapils malt to the kettle. Maintain the temperature at 150°F (65°C) for 60 minutes.

Mashing

After mashing, sparge the grains with hot water to extract the sugars. Collect the wort in your brew kettle, aiming for around 6 gallons total.

Sparging

Bring the wort to a boil. Once boiling, add the Citra hops and continue boiling for 60 minutes. Add the Simcoe and Mosaic hops with 15 minutes left, and the Amarillo hops in the last 5 minutes of the boil.

Boiling

After boiling, cool the wort quickly using a wort chiller to around 70°F (21°C) before transferring to a fermentation vessel.

Cooling

Pitch the American Ale yeast into the cooled wort. Seal the fermenter and allow it to ferment at around 68°F (20°C) for 1-2 weeks or until fermentation is complete.

Fermentation

Once fermentation is complete, dissolve the priming sugar in a small amount of water and add it to the beer. Bottle the beer in sanitized bottles and cap them.

Bottling

Allow the bottles to carbonate at room temperature for 1-2 weeks. Chill and enjoy your Torque West Coast IPA!
