Cocktail

Method

Lemon-lime slush (prep)

1

Combine lemon juice, lime juice, simple syrup and cold water in a blender or high-speed mixer.

2

Add 1 cup ice. Pulse or blend on high until mixture is a smooth, slushy consistency (about 10–20 seconds depending on blender). If too thick, add up to 0.5 oz cold water and re-blend briefly; if too thin, add a few extra ice cubes and pulse.

3

Transfer slush to a small container and refrigerate briefly while assembling cocktail. This yields roughly 6 oz; use 1 oz per drink and reserve remainder for additional drinks.

Cocktail assembly

4

Prepare glass

Chill a highball or Collins glass in the freezer for 5 minutes or pack with ice to cool while preparing ingredients.

5

Make cucumber ribbons: use a vegetable peeler to shave 3 long thin ribbons from a peeled cucumber. Reserve one ribbon for garnish and two for muddling.

6

Lightly bruise the rosemary sprig: hold the sprig between palms and clap once to release aromatics (do not strip leaves).

7

In the chilled glass, add the two cucumber ribbons and the bruised rosemary sprig. Add 1/2 oz fresh lime juice.

8

Gently muddle the cucumber and rosemary 3–4 times with a muddler (or the back of a spoon) to release cucumber juice and rosemary oils. Do not over-muddle into a paste; you want aromatic oils and some juice.

9

Fill the glass about three-quarters with large ice cubes (or crushed ice if you prefer a colder, more diluted profile).

10

Pour 2 oz gin over the ice, then add 1 oz lemon-lime slush on top of the gin. The slush will sit briefly before mixing — it adds texture and a bright note.

11

Top slowly with 4 oz Fever-Tree Indian Tonic Water. Pour over the back of a spoon if you want a layered look; otherwise pour gently to combine.

12

Give the drink 2 gentle stirs with a bar spoon to integrate the slush and tonic without flattening the carbonation.

13

Garnish: twist or thread the remaining cucumber ribbon along the inside of the glass, lay it across the top, and place the rosemary sprig upright. Optionally add a thin wheel of lime on the rim.

14

Serve immediately with a straw or long spoon. Encourage sipping to appreciate the evolving dilution as the slush melts.
