Fries

Method

Prepare the Fries

1

Cook the Fries

Preheat your oven according to the instructions on the frozen French fries package. Spread the fries evenly on a baking sheet and drizzle with vegetable oil. Bake according to package instructions until golden and crispy, usually about 20-25 minutes.

Make the Chili

2

Cook the Beef

In a large skillet, over medium heat, add the ground beef. Cook until browned, breaking it apart with a spatula, for about 5-7 minutes. Drain excess fat.

3

Add Vegetables and Spices

Add the chopped onion and minced garlic to the skillet with the beef. Sauté for about 3-4 minutes until the onion is translucent.

4

Combine Remaining Ingredients

Add the kidney beans, diced tomatoes, chili powder, ground cumin, salt, black pepper, and water to the skillet. Stir well to combine all ingredients.

5

Simmer the Chili

Bring the chili mixture to a boil, then reduce heat to low. Let it simmer for about 15-20 minutes, stirring occasionally, until the chili thickens.

Assemble the Chili Cheese Fries

6

Combine and Serve

Once the fries are cooked, take them out of the oven and place them on a serving platter. Pour the chili over the fries, then sprinkle the shredded cheddar cheese on top. Optionally, add sour cream and chopped green onions as toppings. Serve immediately.
