Cocktail

Garnish & Muddle

Method

Prepare

1

Muddle fruit and mint

Place the fresh raspberries and mint leaves in the base of a mixing glass or cocktail shaker. Add the simple syrup and gently muddle 6–8 times until raspberries are broken down and mint is fragrant — avoid pulverizing the mint to prevent bitterness.

2

Add spirits and citrus

Add the raspberry vodka and fresh lime juice to the muddled mixture. Add a handful of ice to the shaker (enough to chill without over-diluting) and shake vigorously for about 8–10 seconds to combine and chill.

Assemble & Serve

3

Strain and build

Fill a mule mug or highball glass with ice. Double-strain the shaken mixture over the ice using a fine mesh strainer (to catch seeds and mint bits) into the prepared glass.

4

Top with ginger beer

Top the strained cocktail with 4 oz ginger beer. Gently stir once or twice with a bar spoon to integrate the ginger beer without flattening the carbonation.

5

Garnish and finish

Garnish with a lime wheel or wedge on the rim and tuck 2–3 whole raspberries and a small sprig of fresh mint into the drink. Optionally slap the mint between your palms first to boost aroma. Serve immediately.
