Coffee (Hot or Iced)

Method

Coffee (Hot or Iced)

1

Prepare Equipment

Choose brewing method (drip coffee maker, French press, pour-over). Ensure equipment is clean. Bring water to 92–96°C (195–205°F) for best extraction.

2

Make Hot Coffee

Measure 0.33 cups (about 55 g) of medium-coarse ground coffee for ~1 liter yield. Add grounds to your brewer. Pour 800 ml hot water evenly over grounds (follow your brewer's technique). Brew 3–5 minutes for French press or per device instructions. Once brewed, pour into cups. Add milk, creamer, sugar, or pinch of salt to taste.

3

Make Iced Coffee (Quick Method)

Brew a slightly stronger coffee using the same amount of grounds but only 700–750 ml hot water to concentrate. Allow to cool 5–10 minutes. In a serving glass fill 1 cup of ice cubes. Pour 200 ml cold water over ice, then top with 180–200 ml cooled strong coffee. Stir in 1 tablespoon simple syrup (or to taste) while still cold so it dissolves. Add milk/creamer (120 ml) if desired. Adjust sweetness and milk to taste.

4

Cold-Brew Alternative

Combine 0.33 cups (55 g) coarse coffee grounds with 1 liter cold water in a container. Stir and steep in refrigerator for 12–16 hours. Strain through fine mesh or coffee filter. Serve over ice with milk and sweetener as desired.

Assorted Tea

5

Heat Water

Bring 720 ml fresh water to the appropriate temperature: 95–100°C for black tea, 80–85°C for green tea, and 95°C for most herbal teas.

6

Steep Tea

Place one tea bag per cup (use up to 3 bags for three servings) into teapot or cups. Pour hot water over tea bags (about 240 ml per cup). Steep according to type: black tea 3–5 minutes, green tea 2–3 minutes, herbal 5–7 minutes. Avoid over-steeping to prevent bitterness.

7

Finish & Serve

Remove tea bags and discard. Sweeten with honey or sugar to taste (start with 1 tsp). For black tea, add milk (30 ml) if desired. Garnish with lemon slices for black or herbal teas. Serve hot, or cool and pour over ice for iced tea.
