Chill all four cans/bottles (Telluride Tangerine Blonde, Juice Drop Hazy IPA, Ridge Runner IPA, Avalanche Amber Ale) to 40–45°F (4–7°C) for best tasting condition. This usually takes 1–2 hours in a refrigerator.

Chill beers

Arrange a 4-slot beer flight board or four tasting glasses on a clean surface. Place a tasting note card or label in front of each slot and write the beer name on each card to match the pour order (see recommended order below). Place plain crackers or a few slices of neutral bread nearby as palate cleansers. Fill a small glass with neutral water for rinsing between tastings.

Prepare glassware and tasting board

Plan the tasting order from lightest/more delicate to heaviest/hoppiest so flavors do not overwhelm subsequent pours. Recommended order: 1) Telluride Tangerine Blonde Ale 2) Breckenridge Juice Drop Hazy IPA 3) Breckenridge Ridge Runner IPA 4) Breckenridge Avalanche Amber Ale.

Order — mild to bold

Hold each glass at a 45° angle and begin pouring the beer down the side of the glass. When the glass is about three-quarters full, straighten it and finish with a small head (about 1/2 inch / 1 cm). Pour ~6 fl oz (about 180 ml) into each tasting glass/slot so each sample is consistent. Pause briefly between pours to avoid mixing aromas.

Pour technique

Place each labeled tasting card in front of the corresponding poured glass so tasters know which beer they are sampling.

Labeling

Start by observing color and clarity: note the Tangerine Blonde's pale golden hue, the Juice Drop Hazy IPA's hazy, straw-to-golden color, the Ridge Runner IPA's deeper golden-amber, and the Avalanche Amber's amber/brown tone and clarity. Record observations on the tasting cards if desired.

Visual inspection

Swirl each glass gently and take one to two short sniffs, then a deeper inhale. Note citrus/tangerine and light malt in the Tangerine Blonde; juicy tropical fruit, citrus and soft haze character in the Juice Drop; piney/resinous and citrus hop notes in the Ridge Runner IPA; and toasty caramel, biscuit malt aromas in the Avalanche Amber Ale.

Aroma

Take a small sip, let it coat the palate, and note sweetness, bitterness, hop character, and finish. Between samples, cleanse the palate with water and a plain cracker or bread. Compare balance, body, carbonation level, and how the citrus/juice-forward characters change across the flight.

Taste and mouthfeel

After tasting all four, revisit any you want to compare side-by-side. Note which beer has the most hop bitterness, most hop aroma, best malt balance, and which pairs best with food or mood.

Comparative notes

Collect glasses and discard remaining beer or return to fridge if you plan to finish later. Rinse glasses promptly to avoid dried residue. Store any unopened cans/bottles refrigerated and consume according to the brewery's best-by guidance.
