Method

Cocktail

  1. 1

    Prepare glass

Choose a highball glass (12–14 oz). Fill the glass with ice cubes to chill it while preparing the drink.

  2. 2

    Build the cocktail

Discard any extra water from the iced glass if needed. Pour 2 oz Patrón Silver tequila into the glass over the ice, then add 4 oz freshly squeezed orange juice. Gently stir once or twice with a bar spoon to combine the tequila and orange juice evenly.

  3. 3

    Add grenadine for sunrise effect

Slowly pour 0.5 oz grenadine down the inside edge of the glass or directly onto the back of a spoon held just above the drink’s surface. The grenadine will sink and gradually rise slightly, creating the layered 'sunrise' effect at the bottom of the glass.

  4. 4

    Garnish and serve

Garnish with an orange wheel on the rim and optionally drop a maraschino cherry into the drink. Serve with a straw or stirrer on the side so the guest can mix if desired.
