Pretzel Crust and Onion Rings

Method

Preparation and Cooking

1

Prepare the Onions

Peel and slice the onions into thick rings, about 1/2 inch thick. Separate the rings and set aside.

2

Set Up Breading Station

In three separate bowls, place flour in the first bowl, beaten eggs in the second bowl, and a mixture of pretzel crumbs, parmesan cheese, garlic powder, thyme, salt, and pepper in the third bowl.

3

Bread the Onion Rings

Dip each onion ring first into the flour, then into the egg, and finally coat with the pretzel mixture. Ensure they are well-coated.

4

Heat the Oil

In a large pot or deep fryer, heat oil over medium-high heat until it reaches 350°F (175°C).

5

Fry the Onion Rings

Carefully add the breaded onion rings into the hot oil in batches. Fry until golden brown, about 3-4 minutes per side. Remove and drain on paper towels.

6

Make the Dipping Sauce

In a small bowl, mix together mustard and steak sauce. Adjust to taste if necessary.

7

Serve

Serve the hot pretzel crusted onion rings with the mustard steak sauce on the side for dipping.
