Method

For one serving

1

Prepare glass

Choose a tall glass and fill it about two-thirds full with ice cubes. Chilling the glass ahead helps keep the drink fizzy longer.

2

Measure syrup

Pour 2 tablespoons (about 1/8 cup) of cola concentrate or cola syrup into the glass. If using a ready-made bottled cola (e.g., Coca‑Cola), skip to the 'Combine' step and pour the cola over ice instead of using concentrate.

3

Add carbonated water

Slowly pour 1/2 cup (about 4 fl oz / 120 ml) of chilled carbonated water into the glass over the back of a spoon or down the side to preserve carbonation. Pour gently to minimize foam and loss of fizz.

4

Stir gently

Using a long spoon or straw, stir the mixture gently 2–3 times to combine the syrup and carbonated water. Avoid vigorous stirring to prevent losing carbonation.

5

Finish and serve

Garnish with a lime wedge on the rim or squeeze a little lime juice into the drink if desired. Serve immediately while cold and fizzy. If you used bottled cola, serve as poured over ice.

6

Prepare pitcher

Chill a pitcher in the refrigerator if possible. Add plenty of ice to individual glasses when serving rather than filling the pitcher with ice (to avoid diluting the whole batch).

7

Mix syrup and water

In the chilled pitcher, gently combine 3/4 cup cola concentrate or syrup with 3 cups chilled carbonated water. Pour the carbonated water slowly and fold with a long spoon, stirring gently 3–4 times to combine while preserving carbonation.

8

Serve

Pour the mixed cola over ice-filled glasses. Garnish each glass with a lime wedge or a squeeze of lime if desired. Serve immediately to retain maximum fizz.
