Fish Camp Fries

Method

Fish Camp Fries Preparation

1

Preparing the Potatoes

Begin by washing and peeling the Russet potatoes. Cut them into thin strips, about 1/4 inch thick, to create fries.

2

Soaking the Potatoes

Place the cut potato strips in a large bowl of cold water. Let them soak for at least 30 minutes to remove excess starch. This helps achieve crispier fries.

3

Heating the Oil

In a large, heavy-bottomed pot or deep fryer, heat the vegetable oil to 350°F (175°C). Use a thermometer for accurate temperature control.

4

Drying the Potatoes

After soaking, drain the potatoes and pat them dry using paper towels. This step is crucial as excess moisture can cause the oil to splatter.

5

Frying the Potatoes

Carefully add a handful of the dried potato strips to the hot oil. Fry in batches to avoid overcrowding. Fry until golden brown and crispy, about 4-5 minutes per batch.

6

Seasoning the Fries

Once fried, remove the fries from the oil and drain on paper towels. Immediately sprinkle with salt, black pepper, paprika, and garlic/onion powder while they are still hot.

7

Garnishing

Chop the fresh parsley and sprinkle it over the fries for a fresh flavor and appealing presentation.

8

Serving

Serve the Fish Camp Fries hot alongside your favorite fish dishes or as a standalone snack.
