Cocktail

1

Prepare glass

If you want a rim, rub a lime wedge around the glass rim and dip into a shallow plate of salt or Tajín. Set the glass aside to dry while you build the cocktail.

2

Muddle cucumber

Place the roughly chopped cucumber (about 4 oz) into a cocktail shaker. Using a sturdy muddler, press and twist until the cucumber is well crushed and has released a good amount of juice (20–30 seconds).

3

Measure and combine

Add 2 oz Javier’s Reserva Blanco Tequila, 1 oz fresh lime juice, and 0.5 oz agave nectar to the shaker with the muddled cucumber.

4

Add ice and shake

Fill the shaker with about 1 cup of ice, secure the lid, and shake vigorously for 12–15 seconds until the shaker is frosty and well chilled.

5

Double strain

Use a Hawthorne strainer and a fine mesh strainer to pour the cocktail into the prepared glass (rocks or coupe), leaving the cucumber solids behind. Double straining ensures a smooth drink without large bits.

6

Finish and garnish

Garnish with a thin cucumber slice or wheel and a lime wheel or wedge on the rim. Serve immediately.

7

Optional adjustment

Taste and adjust sweetness or acidity: add an extra 1/4 oz agave nectar if you prefer sweeter, or 1/4 oz more lime juice for brighter acidity.
