Tequila & Serving

Method

Tequila & Serving

1

Prepare the ice sphere (make ahead)

Fill a clean ice sphere mold with filtered water, leaving the fill point per the mold instructions. For the clearest sphere, use boiled-and-cooled or distilled water and fill slowly to reduce trapped air. Place the mold in the freezer on a flat surface and freeze for at least 8 hours or overnight until fully solid.

2

Release the ice sphere

Remove the mold from the freezer 5–10 minutes before serving to ease removal. Gently flex the mold or run a small amount of cool water over the exterior to loosen the sphere, then carefully release the ice sphere and place it on a clean tray or directly into a chilled glass.

3

Glass preparation

Select a small tasting glass such as a Glencairn, snifter, or a rocks glass. If you prefer the tequila slightly chilled but not diluted quickly, chill the glass in the freezer for 5–10 minutes before pouring.

4

Pouring the tequila

Measure 2 oz (about 60 ml) of Javier’s Reserva Tequila and pour it into the prepared glass over the ice sphere if using. If enjoying neat, pour the tequila into the chilled glass without ice.

5

Optional: Add a drop of water

If you like to open the aromas, add a single teaspoon (or less) of room-temperature filtered water to the tequila and gently swirl once. Taste to decide if you prefer more or none.

6

Tasting notes & service

Hold the glass at the stem or base and warm the tequila slightly with your hands for a few seconds to release aromas if served neat. Inhale gently, then take small sips to appreciate the midpalate and finish. If served on ice, the sphere will slowly chill and add minimal dilution, preserving the tequila's character. Serve immediately.

7

Timing

Estimated immediate serving: prepare ice sphere ahead. Final plating and tasting take about 2–3 minutes.
