Cocktail

1

Prepare the shaker

Fill a cocktail shaker halfway with fresh ice (about 1 cup) so the ingredients chill quickly and dilute properly.

2

Build and shake

Add 2 oz reposado tequila, 0.75 oz Grand Marnier, 0.5 oz fresh lime juice, 0.25 oz agave syrup, and 2 dashes orange bitters to the shaker. Secure the lid and shake vigorously for 12–15 seconds until the shaker feels very cold and slightly frosty.

3

Prepare glass

If serving on the rocks: fill a rocks glass with fresh large ice. If serving neat/chilled: chill a coupe or Nick & Nora glass in the freezer or by filling it with ice water for a minute, then discard the ice.

4

Strain

Double-strain the cocktail into the prepared glass (over fresh ice for on-the-rocks, or into the chilled coupe for neat) using a Hawthorne and fine-mesh strainer to remove small ice shards and pulp.

5

Finish and garnish

Express an orange twist over the drink by holding the peel skin-side down over the cocktail and giving it a firm bend to spray oils across the surface. Rub the peel on the glass rim and drop it into the drink. Add a lime wheel on the rim or floated on top as an extra accent.
