Cocktail

Method

Cocktail

1

Chill glass

Place a coupe or rocks glass in the freezer, or fill it with ice water to chill while preparing the cocktail.

2

Combine spirits and modifiers

In a mixing glass add 2 oz Angel's Envy bourbon, 1 oz Javier's Single Barrel Reserve (rye or substitute), and 1 oz sweet vermouth.

3

Add bitters

Add 2 dashes Angostura bitters and 1 dash orange bitters to the mixing glass.

4

Stir with ice

Fill the mixing glass with large ice or regular ice and stir gently for 30–45 seconds until well chilled (target dilution ~20–25% of initial volume, glass should feel cold).

5

Prepare glass & optional rinse

If using the optional rinse: pour 0.25 tsp peated rum or oloroso sherry into the chilled serving glass, swirl to coat the inside, then discard excess. If not using a rinse, dump the chilling ice or remove the glass from the freezer.

6

Strain & garnish

Strain the stirred mixture over a single large ice cube in the chilled rocks glass (or serve straight up in a coupe without ice). Express an orange twist over the drink to release oils, rub the rim with the peel, and drop it in. Add one Luxardo cherry on a pick.

Serving

7

Serve immediately. Sip slowly to appreciate the interplay of the toasted, port-finished notes of Angel's Envy with the spicier rye character of Javier’s Single Barrel; bitters and vermouth round out the profile.
