Method
Cocktail
Prepare cucumber
Peel and thinly slice 3 oz (about 4–6 slices) of fresh cucumber. Muddle the cucumber in a cocktail shaker until it’s thoroughly broken down and releases its juice and aroma (about 20–30 seconds). If you prefer a smoother texture, muddle longer or briefly pulse in a small blender and strain.
Add liquids
To the shaker with muddled cucumber, add 4 tablespoons (2 oz) Javier’s Reserva Blanco Tequila, 1 oz fresh lime juice, and 0.5 oz agave nectar. Add about 1 cup of ice.
Shake
Secure the shaker and shake vigorously for 12–15 seconds, until the outside of the shaker is frosty and well-chilled. This chills and dilutes the cocktail to the correct balance.
Double strain
Double strain the mixture through a fine mesh strainer (or a Hawthorne strainer plus fine sieve) into a rocks glass filled with fresh ice. Double straining removes small cucumber solids for a smooth sip.
