Method
Cocktail
Prepare
Place a cocktail shaker on a stable surface. Cut a lime wedge and a thin wheel or twist of orange for garnish. Measure out all liquid ingredients so they are ready.
Rim the glass
Run the lime wedge around the lip of a rocks or coupe glass. Spread the coarse salt on a small plate and press the glass rim into the salt to coat evenly. Set the glass aside.
Shake
Add 1 cup of ice to the shaker, then pour in 2 oz reposado tequila, 1 oz orange liqueur, 1 oz fresh lime juice, 0.5 oz agave syrup, and 0.25 oz fresh orange juice. If using bitters, add 2 dashes. Secure the shaker and shake vigorously for 12–15 seconds until the shaker is very cold and well-diluted.
Strain
Fill the rimmed glass with fresh serving ice (if serving on the rocks). Double-strain the cocktail (using the shaker’s strainer and a fine mesh strainer if available) into the prepared glass. If you prefer a neat/straight up presentation, omit the serving ice and fine-strain into a chilled coupe.
Garnish & Serve
Garnish with the lime wedge on the rim and float or place the thin orange wheel or twist on the drink. Serve immediately.
Optional: For a slightly smoky presentation, flame the orange twist briefly over the drink to release oils before dropping it in.
