Cocktail

1

Chill glass

Place a coupe or cocktail glass in the freezer or fill with ice water to chill while you prepare the cocktail.

2

Measure ingredients

Measure 1 oz Empress 1908 Gin, 1 oz Luxardo Maraschino, 1 oz Fontbonne 1874, 0.75 oz fresh lime juice, and 0.25 oz simple syrup into a mixing glass or cocktail shaker.

3

Add ice and shake

Add a generous scoop of ice to the shaker (about 1 cup). Seal and shake vigorously for 12–15 seconds until the outside of the shaker is very cold and well-diluted.

4

Prepare glass

Remove the coupe or cocktail glass from the freezer or empty the ice water and dry the glass.

5

Double strain

Using a Hawthorne strainer and a fine mesh strainer (or the shaker’s built-in strainer if fine enough), double-strain the cocktail into the chilled coupe to remove tiny ice shards and any pulp from the lime juice.

6

Garnish

Express a lime twist over the surface of the cocktail to release oils, then drop the twist into the drink or hang it on the rim.

7

Serve

Serve immediately. The cocktail will be herbaceous and slightly sweet with a floral/citrus lift from the Empress gin and a subtle almond/cherry note from the Luxardo.
