1

Prep the glass

Pour approximately 1/2 teaspoon of the black salt onto a small shallow plate. Run a lime wedge around the rim of a chilled rocks glass (or short old-fashioned glass) to moisten it, then gently dip and rotate the rim into the black salt so it adheres evenly. If desired, lightly tap off excess salt. Set the glass aside.

2

Build and shake

Fill a cocktail shaker with the cubed ice (about 1 cup). Add 2.0 oz Javier’s Reserva Cristalino Añejo Tequila, 0.75 oz fresh lime juice, and 0.5 oz agave nectar to the shaker. Secure the lid and shake vigorously for 12–15 seconds, until the outside of the shaker is well chilled and slightly frosty.

3

Strain and finish

Double-strain the cocktail into the prepared rocks glass over fresh ice (one or two large cubes). Sprinkle the remaining ~1/2 teaspoon of black salt lightly across the top of the drink for a striking dark contrast and subtle savory note.

4

Garnish and serve

Float a lime wheel or place a lime wedge on the rim. Serve immediately with a short stirrer so the guest can mix the black salt into the drink as desired.
