Browned Butter

Cocktail Ingredients

Method

Browned Butter Preparation

1

Brown the Butter

In a medium saucepan over medium heat, melt the unsalted butter. Continue to cook, stirring frequently, until the butter turns golden brown and develops a nutty aroma, about 5-7 minutes. Be careful not to burn it.

2

Cool the Butter

Once browned, remove the butter from heat and let it cool for a few minutes. Transfer to a heat-proof container and refrigerate until slightly firm but not solid, about 30 minutes.

Cocktail Assembly

3

Mix the Cocktail

In a cocktail shaker, combine 2 oz of bourbon, 0.5 oz of simple syrup, and 2 dashes of Angostura bitters. Add the cooled browned butter (about 2 tablespoons) to the shaker.

4

Shake with Ice

Add 1 cup of ice cubes to the shaker. Secure the lid and shake vigorously for about 15-20 seconds until well chilled.

5

Strain and Serve

Strain the cocktail into an old-fashioned glass over fresh ice. Garnish with a strip of orange peel by twisting it over the drink to release its oils.
