1

Build and shake

Fill a cocktail shaker halfway with ice. Add 2 oz light rum, 3 oz orange juice, and 0.5 oz fresh lemon juice. Secure the lid and shake vigorously for 8–12 seconds until chilled and slightly diluted.

2

Prepare glass

Fill a highball or Collins glass with fresh ice (about 3/4 full).

3

Strain and top

Strain the shaken rum–orange–lemon mixture into the prepared glass over the ice.

4

Add soda and cherry brandy

Pour 1.5 oz chilled 7-Up gently into the glass to preserve effervescence. Then float 0.5 oz cherry brandy on top by pouring it slowly over the back of a spoon near the surface — this creates a subtle layered cherry note.

5

Finish with grenadine

Carefully drizzle 0.25 oz grenadine down the side of the glass or into the center; it will sink and produce a pink-to-red bloom resembling a sakura (cherry blossom) effect.

6

Garnish and serve

Garnish with an orange wheel on the rim and a maraschino cherry dropped into the drink. Serve with a straw and a cocktail napkin.
