Method

Cocktail

  1. 1

    Chill glass

Place a martini or coupe glass in the freezer for at least 5 minutes or fill it with ice water while you prepare the cocktail to chill it.

  2. 2

    Combine ingredients

In a cocktail shaker, add 2 oz Quicksilver (vodka), 1 oz Montgomery's Nite Owl coffee liqueur, 1 oz chilled cold brew, 0.5 oz chilled half-and-half, and 0.25 oz simple syrup. The small amount of simple syrup is optional depending on desired sweetness — adjust to taste.

  3. 3

    Add ice and shake

Fill the shaker with ice (about 1 cup). Secure the lid and shake vigorously for 15–20 seconds. Aim for a very cold, frothy shake to develop a creamy foam from the half-and-half and vigorous aeration.

  4. 4

    Prepare glass

If you chilled the glass with ice water, dump the ice water out now.

  5. 5

    Double strain and serve

Strain the cocktail through a fine mesh strainer (or the shaker’s strainer) into the chilled martini or coupe glass. Double-straining removes small ice shards and yields a smoother texture and cleaner foam.

Garnish

  1. 6

Gently float 3 whole coffee beans on top of the foam as a classic espresso martini garnish. Serve immediately.
