Method

Preparation

  1. 1

    Chill glass and ingredients

If possible, chill a large wine glass or stemmed glass in the freezer for 5–10 minutes. Ensure Prosecco and soda water are well chilled before assembling.

  2. 2

    Add ice

Fill the chilled wine glass about two-thirds full with large ice cubes (approximately 1 cup). Large cubes melt slower and keep the drink balanced longer.

Assembling the Cocktail

  1. 3

    Add Aperol

Pour 1.5 oz Aperol over the ice. Pour gently so it sits near the bottom for a layered look if desired.

  2. 4

    Add cranberry juice

Pour 1 oz cranberry juice into the glass over the Aperol. This adds color, tartness, and balances the bitterness of Aperol.

  3. 5

    Top with Prosecco

Slowly add 3 oz chilled Prosecco. Pour gently down the side of the glass or over the back of a spoon to help preserve a slight layered effect and to retain carbonation.

  4. 6

    Finish with soda

Top the cocktail with 1 oz chilled soda water to add lift and soften sweetness. Stir gently once with a bar spoon (one or two slow turns) to integrate without losing too much fizz.

Garnish & Serve

  1. 7

    Garnish

Garnish with one cinnamon stick placed upright in the glass and an orange wheel or slice on the rim or floated on top. The cinnamon stick adds aroma; if you want extra warmth, briefly flash the cinnamon stick over a lighter for 1 second before placing in the drink (optional).

  2. 8

    Serve

Serve immediately while fizzy. Sip through the cinnamon aroma and enjoy.
