Method
Prep
Prepare espresso
If using Irving Farm espresso, brew a short ristretto or 1 oz shot and chill briefly (or use pre-chilled espresso/cold-brew). You want the espresso cold to avoid diluting the shaken cocktail excessively.
Mixing
Combine ingredients
Add 2 oz Breckenridge Espresso Vodka, 1 oz chilled Irving Farm espresso (or cold-brew concentrate), 0.5 oz coffee liqueur, 2 dashes chocolate bitters and 0.25 oz simple syrup (optional) into a cocktail shaker.
Add ice and shake
Add 1 cup of ice to the shaker, secure the lid and shake vigorously for 12–18 seconds. The goal is to chill thoroughly and create a slight foam from the espresso.
Double-strain
Discard the ice from the chilled glass if you used it to chill. Double-strain the cocktail into the chilled coupe or martini glass using a Hawthorne strainer and a fine mesh strainer to remove ice shards and espresso grounds, ensuring a silky texture.
Finish & Garnish
Garnish with 3 coffee beans placed on top of the foam. Optionally grate a small amount of dark chocolate over the surface or dust with 1 tsp cocoa powder for additional chocolate aroma and visual appeal.
Serve immediately. Provide a small spoon if you included chocolate shavings to let the guest stir slightly before sipping.
