Method
Preparation
- 1
Chill glass (optional)
If you prefer a slightly cooler drink, place an Old Fashioned glass in the freezer for 5–10 minutes or fill it with ice to chill while you prepare the drink.
- 2
Measure spirit
Pour 2 oz of Booker's Bourbon into a mixing glass or directly into an Old Fashioned glass, depending on your preferred method. Booker's is cask‑strength/high proof, so use a measured jigger for accuracy.
- 3
Optional dilution
If you prefer a bit of softening, add 1/4 oz (about a splash) of room‑temperature spring or bottled water to the bourbon. This will help open the aromatics without over‑watering.
- 4
Add ice
Add a single large ice cube or several medium cubes to the glass. The large cube melts more slowly and keeps the drink from diluting too quickly.
- 5
Stir (if prepared in mixing glass)
If you used a mixing glass, gently stir the bourbon and water with ice for about 20–30 seconds to chill and integrate. If you prepared the drink directly in the serving glass, briefly swirl the glass to mix.
- 6
- 7
Serve
Serve immediately. Sip slowly to appreciate the robust aromas and flavors of the high‑proof bourbon. Offer additional water on the side if guests want to adjust strength.
