Method

Cooking Pasta

  1. 1

    Boil Water

In a large pot, bring 4 liters of water to a boil. Add 1 tablespoon of salt to the boiling water.

  2. 2

    Cook Spaghetti

Once the water is boiling, add 400 grams of spaghetti. Cook according to package instructions, usually about 8-10 minutes, until al dente. Drain and set aside.

Making Bolognese Sauce

  1. 3

    Sauté Vegetables

In a large skillet or saucepan, heat 2 tablespoons of olive oil over medium heat. Add 1 finely chopped onion, 3 minced garlic cloves, 1 finely chopped carrot, and 1 finely chopped celery stalk. Sauté for about 5-7 minutes until the vegetables are soft.

  2. 4

    Brown the Meat

Add 500 grams of ground beef to the skillet. Cook until browned, about 8-10 minutes, breaking it apart with a spoon.

  3. 5

    Add Tomatoes and Seasonings

Stir in 400 grams of crushed tomatoes, 2 tablespoons of tomato paste, 1 teaspoon of dried oregano, 1 teaspoon of dried basil, 1 teaspoon of salt, and 1 teaspoon of black pepper. If using, add 100 ml of red wine.

  4. 6

    Simmer the Sauce

Reduce the heat to low and let the sauce simmer for 20-30 minutes, stirring occasionally, until thickened.

Garnishing and Serving

  1. 7

    Combine and Serve

Toss the cooked spaghetti with the Bolognese sauce until well combined. Serve hot, garnished with 50 grams of grated Parmesan cheese and fresh basil leaves.
