Bread Pudding
Fig Sauce
Method
Bread Pudding
- 1
Prepare the Bread
Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C). Tear the day-old bread into bite-sized pieces and place them in a large mixing bowl.
- 2
Mix Fruits and Raisins
Add the diced apples, diced pears, and golden raisins to the bowl with the bread. Gently mix until evenly distributed.
- 3
- 4
Combine Mixtures
Pour the wet mixture over the bread and fruit mixture. Stir gently to ensure all bread pieces are coated. Let it sit for about 15 minutes to allow the bread to soak up the liquid.
- 5
Bake the Pudding
Transfer the mixture into a greased baking dish. Bake in the preheated oven for 45-50 minutes, or until the top is golden brown and a knife inserted in the center comes out clean.
Fig Sauce
- 6
Prepare the Fig Sauce
In a small saucepan, combine the chopped dried figs, water, sugar, and lemon juice. Bring to a boil over medium heat.
- 7
Simmer
Reduce the heat and let the mixture simmer for about 15-20 minutes, stirring occasionally, until the figs are soft and the sauce has thickened.
- 8
Blend the Sauce
Remove the saucepan from the heat. Use an immersion blender to puree the fig sauce until smooth, or transfer to a blender if necessary.
