Method

Preparing the Mussels

  1. 1

    Clean the Mussels

Rinse the mussels under cold water, scrubbing the shells to remove any dirt or grit. Remove any beards by pulling them off with your fingers.

  2. 2

    Sauté the Garlic

In a large pot, heat a tablespoon of olive oil over medium heat. Add minced garlic (4 cloves) and sauté until fragrant, about 1-2 minutes.

  3. 3

    Add Wine and Mussels

Pour in the white wine and bring it to a simmer. Then, add the cleaned mussels, cover the pot, and let them steam for about 5 minutes until they open.

  4. 4

    Add Passata and Seasonings

Once the mussels have opened, add the passata, cherry tomatoes, red chili flakes, and dried oregano. Stir gently and let cook for another 2-3 minutes.

Grilling the Bread

  1. 5

    Prepare the Bread

Slice the baguette or crusty bread into thick slices.

  2. 6

    Grill the Bread

Brush both sides of the bread slices with olive oil and sprinkle with salt. Grill on a preheated grill or grill pan for about 2-3 minutes on each side until golden brown and crispy.
