Chilling (standard)

Fill an ice bucket or large container with 4 cups of ice and about 1 liter of cold water. Submerge the bottle for 15–20 minutes, turning once after 10 minutes. Remove when the bottle feels cold to the touch and near 8–10°C.

Rapid chilling (if short on time)

Wipe the neck with a clean cloth. Use a waiter’s corkscrew: cut the foil cleanly, remove the cork gently to avoid agitation, and check for any off aromas (which could indicate a fault).

Opening the bottle

Gavi is typically served directly from the bottle. If the wine is very young and you prefer slightly more aromatic lift, pour gently into a decanter and let sit 10–15 minutes. This is optional; prolonged exposure will diminish the wine's fresh fruit character.
