Method

Making the Churro Dough

  1. 1

    Step 1: Prepare the Dough

In a medium saucepan, combine water, unsalted butter, 2 tablespoons of granulated sugar, and salt. Bring the mixture to a boil over medium heat.

  2. 2

    Step 2: Add the Flour

Once boiling, remove the saucepan from heat and quickly stir in the all-purpose flour until the mixture forms a ball.

  3. 3

    Step 3: Incorporate the Eggs

Allow the dough to cool for about 5 minutes. Then, add the eggs one at a time, mixing well after each addition until the dough is smooth.

  4. 4

    Step 4: Prepare for Frying

Transfer the dough to a piping bag fitted with a large star tip.

Frying the Churros

  1. 5

    Step 5: Heat the Oil

In a large pot, heat vegetable oil to 375°F (190°C).

  2. 6

    Step 6: Pipe the Churros

Carefully pipe 4-6 inch strips of dough into the hot oil, cutting with scissors.

  3. 7

    Step 7: Fry until Golden

Fry the churros until golden brown, about 2-3 minutes on each side. Remove them and drain on paper towels.

Coating the Churros

  1. 8

Step 8: Mix Sugar and Cinnamon

In a bowl, mix together 1 cup of granulated sugar and 2 teaspoons of cinnamon.

  2. 9

    Step 9: Coat the Churros

While still warm, roll the churros in the cinnamon-sugar mixture until fully coated.

Making the Chocolate Sauce

  1. 10

    Step 10: Heat the Cream

In a small saucepan, heat the heavy cream over medium heat until it begins to simmer.

  2. 11

    Step 11: Melt the Chocolate

Remove from heat and stir in the semisweet chocolate chips, mixing until smooth and creamy. Add vanilla extract and stir well.
