Method
Pasta Preparation
Cook the Penne
In a large pot, bring 4 cups of water to a boil. Add 1 tsp of salt and the penne pasta. Cook according to package instructions until al dente. Drain and set aside.
Cheese Sauce Preparation
Make the Cheese Sauce
In a saucepan over medium heat, melt 2 tbs of butter. Stir in 2 tbs of flour and cook for 1-2 minutes. Gradually whisk in 2 cups of milk, stirring continuously until the mixture thickens. Add the cheddar cheese, parmesan cheese, garlic powder, 0.5 tsp of salt, and black pepper. Stir until the cheese is melted and the sauce is smooth.
Combine and Serve
Combine Noodles and Sauce
In a large bowl, combine the cooked penne pasta with the cheese sauce. Toss well to coat all noodles in the sauce.
Prepare Garlic Bread
Preheat the oven to 375°F (190°C). Slice the French bread in half lengthwise. In a small bowl, mix together the softened butter, minced garlic, and chopped parsley. Spread the mixture evenly over the cut sides of the bread. Place on a baking sheet and bake for 10-12 minutes or until golden and toasted.
