Korean Fried Chicken

Method

Cooking Instructions

1

Prepare the Chicken

In a large bowl, combine flour, cornstarch, salt, black pepper, garlic powder, and ginger powder. In another bowl, whisk together the egg and water. Dip each chicken wing into the egg mixture, then coat with the flour mixture. Place on a tray and let rest for 20 minutes.

2

Fry the Chicken

In a large pot or deep fryer, heat vegetable oil to 180°C (350°F). Fry the chicken wings in batches until golden brown and cooked through, about 8-10 minutes. Remove and drain on a paper towel.

3

Make the Sauce

In a small saucepan, combine gochujang, honey, and soy sauce. Heat over medium heat until combined and slightly thickened, about 3-5 minutes.

4

Toss the Chicken

In a large bowl, toss the fried chicken wings with the sauce until evenly coated.

5

Prepare the Rice and Eggs

Cook white rice according to package instructions. In a non-stick skillet, fry eggs sunny side up.

6

Serve

Serve the spicy Korean fried chicken with white rice, sunny side up eggs, kimchi, jalapeños, and spicy pickled vegetables.
