Cocktail

Method

Cocktail

  1. 1

    Prepare ingredients

Measure and chill a coupe or martini glass in the freezer for 5–10 minutes. Freshly squeeze blood orange and lime juice. If using egg white, separate and measure 0.5 oz (about half an egg white).

  2. 2

Dry shake (if using egg white)

Add Tito's vodka, blood orange juice, hibiscus syrup, fresh lime juice, dry vermouth (if using), egg white (if using), and bitters (if using) to a cocktail shaker without ice. Dry-shake vigorously for 15 seconds to emulsify and build a silky foam.

  3. 3

    Shake with ice

Add ice cubes to the shaker and shake hard for 12–15 seconds until the exterior of the shaker is frosty and the mixture is well chilled.

  4. 4

    Double strain and serve

Double-strain the cocktail into the chilled coupe or martini glass using a fine strainer (to remove ice shards and any hibiscus bits). This ensures a smooth texture and clear presentation.

Garnish

  1. 5

Float the dehydrated blood orange wheel or fresh slice on top of the foam. Gently place a dried hibiscus flower beside it if using. Express a lime twist over the drink (squeeze the peel to release oils) and drop it in or rest on the rim.
