Naan Dough

Method

Preparation and Baking

1

Activate Yeast

In a small bowl, mix warm water, sugar, and yeast. Let it sit for about 10 minutes until frothy.

2

Mix Dry Ingredients

In a large mixing bowl, combine all-purpose flour and salt.

3

Combine Ingredients

Make a well in the center of the flour mixture. Add the activated yeast mixture, yogurt, and olive oil. Mix until a dough forms.

4

Knead the Dough

Transfer the dough to a floured surface and knead for about 5-7 minutes until smooth and elastic.

5

Let Dough Rise

Place the dough in a lightly oiled bowl, cover with a damp cloth, and let it rise in a warm place for about 1 hour or until doubled in size.

6

Prepare Garlic Butter

While the dough is rising, melt 4 tablespoons of butter and add 4 cloves of minced garlic. Set aside.

7

Shape Naan

Once the dough has risen, punch it down and divide it into 8 equal pieces. Roll each piece into an oval shape.

8

Cook Naan

Preheat a skillet over medium-high heat. Cook each naan for about 2 minutes on each side until puffed and golden brown.

9

Brush with Garlic Butter

Remove naan from the skillet and immediately brush with the garlic butter. Serve warm.
