Cocktail

Method

Cocktail

1

Prep fruit

Hull two fresh strawberries. Reserve one thin slice for garnish and roughly chop the remaining strawberry into small pieces.

2

Muddle

In a cocktail shaker, add the chopped strawberries, 0.5 oz simple syrup and 0.5 oz fresh lemon juice. Gently muddle until the strawberries release juices but still have some texture (about 10–15 seconds).

3

Build and shake

Add 2 oz Don Julio Reposado and 0.5 oz Hennessy to the shaker. Add 3 oz strawberry lemonade and the reserved 6 ice cubes. Secure the lid and shake vigorously for 12–15 seconds until the shaker is well chilled and slightly frosty.

4

Double strain

Double strain the cocktail into a chilled martini coupe or chilled martini-style glass using a Hawthorne strainer and a fine mesh strainer to remove strawberry solids and ice shards. Aim for a smooth, slightly pulpy texture.

5

Garnish

Float the reserved strawberry slice on the surface and add a lemon twist or a small lemon wheel on the rim.

XXL Wine Finish

6

Carefully top the strained martini with 3 oz chilled sparkling wine or sparkling rosé (XXL wine). Pour slowly down the side of the glass so the wine layers gently and preserves effervescence. Serve immediately.
