Method
Cocktail
Prepare strawberry puree
Hull and quarter one small ripe strawberry. Place pieces in a small bowl or shaker tin and muddle until smooth (about 20–30 seconds). If you prefer a smoother texture, press through a fine mesh or blend briefly.
Combine ingredients
Into a cocktail shaker add the muddled strawberry (about 2 tbs), 3 tbs vodka, 1 tbs fresh lemon juice, 1 tsp simple syrup, 1 tsp triple sec and 1/2 tbs egg white if using.
Wet shake
Add 4 ice cubes to the shaker, seal and shake hard for 10–12 seconds until the outside of the shaker is very cold and the mixture is well chilled.
Double strain into shot glasses
Using a fine mesh strainer plus the shaker strainer, pour the cocktail into two chilled 1.5 oz (45 ml) shot glasses (about 1 shot each). This yields a smooth, pulp-free double shot.
Garnish & Serve
Rim the shot glasses: rub the lemon wedge around the rim of each glass, then dip lightly into granulated sugar to create a sweet rim (use about 1 tsp sugar total).
Finish and garnish: Float a thin slice or small wedge of fresh strawberry on top of each shot or skewer a halved strawberry on the rim. Optionally add 1 dash (about 1 tsp) of Angostura bitters over the foam for an aromatic note.
Serve immediately: Present the two shot glasses as a double shot pairing. Enjoy chilled.
