Method
Cocktail
Dry shake (if using egg white)
In a cocktail shaker (without ice) combine vodka, limoncello, fresh lemon juice, elderflower liqueur, simple syrup, and egg white. Close and shake vigorously for 15–20 seconds to emulsify and produce a silky foam.
Wet shake
Add ice to the shaker (about 4–6 ice cubes). Shake again vigorously for 12–15 seconds until the shaker is cold to the touch and well chilled.
Strain
Discard the ice water from the chilled glass. Double-strain the cocktail into the chilled coupe or martini glass using a Hawthorne strainer and a fine mesh strainer to ensure a smooth texture and remove ice shards and any coagulated bits from the egg white.
Finish and aromatic lift
Express a lemon twist over the surface of the drink to release essential oils, then either drop the twist in as garnish or run it once around the rim. If using orange blossom water, add 1–2 very small drops on top of the foam (use sparingly — this is highly aromatic). For an edible flower, float it gently on the foam.
