- 1
Chill glass
Place a copper mule mug (or highball glass) in the freezer for a few minutes or fill it with ice and water while you prepare ingredients to chill the vessel.
- 2
- 3
Add lime and optional sweetener
Add 0.75 oz fresh lime juice to the vodka. If you prefer a slightly sweeter mule, add 0.25 oz simple syrup. If you like a touch of complexity, add 1 dash Angostura bitters.
- 4
Fill with ice
Fill the mug about three-quarters full with fresh cubed or crushed ice (approximately 1 cup).
- 5
Top with ginger beer
Slowly pour 4 oz chilled ginger beer over the ice to preserve carbonation. Give the drink one gentle stir (1–2 rotations) to integrate ingredients without flattening the ginger beer.
- 6
Garnish and serve
Garnish with a lime wheel or wedge on the rim and a fresh mint sprig tucked into the ice if using. Serve immediately with a short stirring spoon or straw.
