Cocktail
Chill glass
Place a martini or coupe glass in the freezer for 5–10 minutes or fill with ice water while you prepare the cocktail to ensure the drink is served very cold.
Combine ingredients
In a cocktail shaker add 6 pieces of ice, 2 oz vodka, 1 oz pineapple juice, 0.75 oz sweet and sour mix, 0.75 oz watermelon liqueur, 0.5 oz triple sec, and 0.25 oz fresh lime juice. If you prefer a slightly sweeter drink, add 0.25 oz simple syrup.
Shake
Secure the shaker and shake vigorously for 12–15 seconds until the outside of the shaker feels very cold and nicely frosted. This chills and dilutes the cocktail to the correct balance.
Strain
Discard ice or water from the chilled glass. Double-strain the cocktail into the chilled martini or coupe glass using a Hawthorne strainer and a fine mesh strainer (optional) to catch small ice chips for a smooth presentation.
Garnish & Serve
Garnish the rim with a lime wheel or wedge and place a small watermelon wedge or a maraschino cherry on the rim or on a cocktail pick. Serve immediately while cold.
