Make sweet and sour (if not using store-bought)
Combine 1 part fresh lemon juice (or half lemon + lime if you prefer) with 1 part simple syrup (1:1 sugar to water) to make sweet and sour. For this recipe you need about 1 oz total. (Alternatively use 1 oz prepared sweet and sour mix.)
- 3
Build and shake
In a cocktail shaker add 2 oz silver tequila, 1 oz passion fruit puree, 1 oz sweet and sour mix, 0.5 oz fresh orange juice, 0.5 oz fresh lime juice, 0.5 oz triple sec, and 0.25 oz agave nectar if you prefer a touch more sweetness. Fill shaker with ice (about 1 cup). Secure lid and shake vigorously for 10–15 seconds until the shaker is cold and well-chilled.
- 4
Strain and serve
Discard ice or water from the chilled glass. Double-strain the cocktail mixture (using a Hawthorne strainer and a fine mesh strainer if available) into the prepared glass over fresh ice (optional) or serve straight up, as preferred.
- 5
Garnish
Garnish with an orange wheel on the rim and/or a half passion fruit floated on top. Optionally add a lime wedge on the rim. Serve immediately.

Notes and scaling
This recipe yields one cocktail (approx. 4–5 oz finished). To make multiple servings, multiply each ingredient by the number of cocktails and shake in batches. Adjust sweetness by adding more or less agave or simple syrup; adjust tartness by increasing or decreasing lime juice.
