Method
Build and Shake
- 1
Prepare shaker
Fill a cocktail shaker halfway with crushed ice or ice cubes (about 1 cup).
- 2
Add spirits and juices
Pour 1 oz coconut rum, 1 oz vodka, 1/2 oz crème de banana, 1 oz coconut water (or coconut-flavored juice), 2 oz pineapple juice, and 1 oz orange juice into the shaker.
- 3
Shake
Secure the shaker lid and shake vigorously for 10–15 seconds until the outside of the shaker feels cold and the mixture is well chilled and slightly frothy from the fruit juices.
Strain and Finish
- 4
Strain over ice
Fill a highball glass or hurricane glass with fresh ice. Strain the shaken mixture into the glass.
- 5
Add dark rum float (optional)
If adding the dark rum float (+3), gently pour 1/2 oz dark rum over the back of a spoon held just above the drink's surface so the rum floats on top. This creates a layered effect and adds aroma.
- 6
Garnish
Garnish with a pineapple wedge and a maraschino cherry on a pick. Serve with a straw and a napkin.
