Method

Cocktail

1

Prepare glass

Chill a coupe or martini glass in the freezer for 5–10 minutes. While chilling, use chocolate syrup to decorate the inside of the glass: hold the glass at an angle and drizzle 0.5 oz chocolate syrup in a spiral or zigzag pattern around the interior. Return glass to freezer briefly while you mix the drink (optional).

2

Build and chill

Fill a cocktail shaker with 6 ice cubes. Add 2 oz vodka, 1 oz Dorda Double Chocolate Liqueur, 0.5 oz chocolate syrup, 2 dashes chocolate bitters, and 1 oz heavy cream (or half-and-half) to the shaker.

3

Shake

Secure the shaker lid and shake vigorously for 12–18 seconds until the outside of the shaker is very cold and the mixture is frothy. This both chills and aerates the cream for a silky texture.

4

Strain

Remove the chilled glass from the freezer. Double-strain the cocktail into the prepared glass using a Hawthorne strainer and (optional) a fine mesh strainer to catch ice shards and create a smooth surface.

Garnish

5

Top the cocktail with 2 tbsp whipped cream (pipe or spoon gently to avoid breaking the drink's surface). Drizzle an additional 0.5 oz chocolate syrup over the whipped cream if desired.

6

Finish with 1 tsp chocolate shavings or a light dusting of cocoa powder over the whipped cream. Serve immediately with a short cocktail spoon or straw.
