Cooking Directions
- 1
Cook the Pasta
In a large pot, bring 4 cups of water to a boil. Add 1 tsp of salt and 2 cups of elbow macaroni. Cook according to package instructions until al dente, usually about 8-10 minutes.
- 2
Make the Tomato Sauce
In a separate pan, heat 2 tablespoons of olive oil over medium heat. Add 2 teaspoons of minced garlic and sauté for about 1 minute until fragrant. Stir in 28 oz of canned crushed tomatoes, 1 teaspoon of dried oregano, and 1 teaspoon of sugar. Allow the sauce to simmer for about 10-15 minutes until it thickens slightly.

Combine Pasta and Sauce
Once the pasta is cooked, drain it and return it to the pot. Pour the homemade tomato sauce over the pasta and mix well. Add 1 tablespoon of chopped fresh basil and stir to combine.
- 4
Serve with Cheese
Serve the pasta hot, topped with grated Parmesan cheese. For a richer flavor, you can also stir in 2 tablespoons of butter before serving.
