Espresso & Syrups

Method

Espresso & Syrups

1

Brew espresso

Pull two 1-1.25 oz shots of espresso (about 2 shots total) into a preheated cup or small pitcher. Fresh espresso gives the best flavor balance with the syrups.

2

Add syrups to espresso

Add 2 tablespoons vanilla syrup and 1 tablespoon elderflower syrup to the hot espresso. Stir gently until fully combined and slightly cooled (about 10–15 seconds).

Milk

3

Steam or heat milk

Steam 10 oz of whole milk to 60–65°C (140–150°F) and produce a silky microfoam. If you don't have a steamer, heat milk on the stovetop until hot but not boiling (about 65°C/150°F) and froth with a handheld frother until smooth and slightly foamy.

4

Combine milk and espresso

Pour the steamed milk into the espresso and syrup mixture, holding back the foam with a spoon to create a smooth latte body. Finish by spooning a thin layer of microfoam on top.

Topping & Finish

5

Add whipped cream

Gently pipe or dollop about 2 tablespoons of whipped cream onto the center of the latte.

6

Garnish with edible flowers

Place 2 edible flowers delicately onto the whipped cream. If desired, lightly dust with 1 teaspoon of vanilla dust or a pinch of powdered sugar for visual contrast.

7

Serve immediately while warm. Provide a small spoon for stirring if the guest wants to mix the whipped cream and flower into the latte.
