Fried Calamari Ingredients

Method

Fried Calamari Directions

1

Prepare the Calamari

Rinse the calamari rings under cold water and pat them dry with paper towels. This helps to remove excess moisture.

2

Marinate

Soak the calamari rings in buttermilk for at least 30 minutes. This tenderizes the calamari and adds flavor.

3

Mix Dry Ingredients

In a large bowl, combine the all-purpose flour, cornstarch, salt, black pepper, and garlic powder. Mix well.

4

Heat the Oil

In a deep skillet or fryer, heat the vegetable oil over medium-high heat until it reaches 350°F (175°C).

5

Coat the Calamari

Remove the calamari from the buttermilk and let any excess drip off. Dredge the calamari rings in the flour mixture, ensuring they are fully coated.

6

Fry the Calamari

Carefully add the coated calamari to the hot oil in batches, avoiding overcrowding. Fry for about 2-3 minutes or until golden brown and crispy.

7

Drain and Serve

Remove the fried calamari using a slotted spoon and drain on paper towels. Sprinkle with chopped parsley and serve hot with lemon wedges.
