Preparation
Prepare the French Toast Mixture
In a large bowl, whisk together the eggs, milk, vanilla extract, and ground cinnamon until well combined.
Soak the Bread
Dip each slice of bread into the egg mixture, allowing it to soak for a few seconds on each side. Ensure the bread is well coated but not overly soggy.
Cook the French Toast
In a large skillet, melt the butter over medium heat. Add the soaked bread slices and cook for 2-3 minutes on each side, until golden brown and cooked through.
Prepare the Apples and Caramel
While the French toast is cooking, slice the apples. In a small saucepan, melt 1 tablespoon of butter over medium heat. Add the sliced apples and cook for 3-5 minutes until slightly softened. Stir in 1/4 cup of caramel sauce and cook for an additional minute.
Serve
Plate the French toast and top with the warm caramelized apples. Drizzle additional caramel sauce over the top if desired.
