Brewing Instructions
1. Mash the Grains
In a large brew kettle, combine the pale malt and wheat malt with 4 liters of water. Heat to 152°F (67°C) and hold that temperature for 60 minutes.
2. Sparge and Boil
After mashing, sparge the grains with hot water to collect about 6 liters of wort. Bring the wort to a boil and add the hops. Boil for 60 minutes.
3. Add Blood Orange Ingredients
During the last 10 minutes of the boil, add the blood orange zest and blood orange juice to the wort.
4. Cool and Ferment
Cool the wort quickly to about 70°F (21°C) using a wort chiller. Transfer to a fermentation vessel and pitch the yeast. Seal and let it ferment for 1-2 weeks.
5. Bottle the Beer
Once fermentation is complete, dissolve the priming sugar in a small amount of water, add it to the beer, and bottle it. Let the bottles condition for 1-2 weeks.
6. Enjoy
Chill the bottles and enjoy your homemade CALI SQUEEZE BLOOD ORANGE HEFE!
