Main Ingredients
Brewing Process
1. Step 1: Prepare the Malt
In a large pot, add 500 ml of water and bring it to a boil. Once boiling, add 100 g of barley malt. Stir well to ensure the malt is fully saturated in water. Allow the mixture to simmer for 60 minutes, stirring occasionally.
2. Step 2: Add Hops
After 60 minutes, add 15 g of hops to the pot. Continue to boil for an additional 15 minutes. This will add bitterness and aroma to the beer.
3. Step 3: Cool the Mixture
Remove the pot from heat and allow the mixture to cool down to room temperature. You can expedite this process by placing the pot in a cold water bath.
4. Step 4: Pitch the Yeast
Once cooled, transfer the mixture to a sanitized fermentation vessel. Sprinkle 10 g of yeast over the top. Seal the vessel with an airlock to allow gases to escape during fermentation.
5. Step 5: Ferment
Place the fermentation vessel in a dark, cool area with a temperature around 18-20°C (64-68°F). Allow it to ferment for about 7-10 days, or until bubbling stops.
6. Step 6: Bottle the Beer
Once fermentation is complete, carefully siphon the beer into sanitized bottles, leaving some space at the top. Seal the bottles with caps.
7. Step 7: Carbonate
Let the bottled beer carbonate at room temperature for another 1-2 weeks. This will allow the carbonation to develop.
8. Step 8: Chill and Serve
After carbonation, refrigerate the bottles for a few hours before serving. Enjoy your homemade Heineken-style beer chilled!
